Liver X receptors induce antiproliferative effects in basal-like breast cancer
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2023-06-21)Liver X receptors (LXRs) are nuclear transcription factors important in the regulation of cholesterol transport, and glucose and fatty acid metabolism. The antiproliferative role of LXRs has been studied in a variety of malignancies and may represent a therapeutic opportunity in cancers lacking targeted therapies, such as triple-negative breast cancer. In this study, we investigated the impact of ... -

Intraregional hospital outbreak of OXA-244-producing Escherichia coli ST38 in Norway, 2020
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2023-07-06)Infections with OXA-244-carbapenemase-producing Escherichia coli with sequence type (ST)38 have recently increased in Europe. Due to its low-level activity against carbapenems, OXA-244 can be difficult to detect. Previous assessments have not revealed a clear source and route of transmission for OXA-244-producing E. coli, but there are indications of non-healthcare related sources and community ... -

Assessing bystander first aid: development and validation of a First Aid Quality Assessment (FAQA) tool
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2023-04-04)Background Injuries are one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Bystanders at the scene can perform first aid measures before the arrival of health services. The quality of first aid measures likely affects patient outcome. However, scientifc evidence on its efect on patient outcome is limited. To properly assess bystander first aid quality, measure effect, and facilitate improvement, ... -
Expression and function of Leukotriene B4 receptors in human articular chondrocytes
(Conference object; Konferansebidrag, 2013)Leukotriene B4 (LTB4) is linked to osteoarthritis (OA) development however the expression of LTB4 receptors in cartilage cells and the physiological effects of LTB4 on cartilage tissue remain unknown. In this study we find that human articular chondrocytes express LTB4 receptors and that these receptors are functional, however, LTB4 does not seem to affect importantly some primary chondrocyte functions. -

Dermal Application of Chloramphenicol - The Effect of Liposomes and Chitosan Hydrogel Formulations on ex vivo Permeation and Antimicrobial Activity
(Conference object; Konferansebidrag, 2017)Liposomes solubilize lipophilic drugs in the phospholipid membrane, and entrap hydrophilic drugs in its aqueous core. These vesicles provide a sustained- and targeted- drug release, and protect from degradation. Liposomes retain the drug onto/in the skin and improve skin drug deposition. Due to their liquid nature, a secondary vehicle, such as a hydrogel, is needed to obtain a necessary retention ... -

Gaps in risk perceptions are barriers to doctor-patient communication about CAM
(Conference object; Konferansebidrag, 2017)Studies have revealed differing perceptions of risk associated with use of conventional and alternative treatments among medical doctors and CAM users. This pilot study explored such differing risk perceptions and their possible influence on doctor CAM user communication. -

How can use of virtual reality technology help improve an intervention for children with emotional problems?
(Conference object; Konferansebidrag, 2019)
Exposure training and behavioral experiments are common and well-supported mechanisms in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for anxiety and depression in children. Virtual reality (VR) technology applies computer-generated, three-dimensional virtual environments, which have the potential to create realistic situations that can be repeated and rehearsed several times. Virtual environments, therefore, ... -
Days at home in the last three months of life: patterns-of-care analysis in patients with non-small cell lung cancer
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2023-04-27)Introduction: To calculate the number of days patients with terminal nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) spent at home in the last 3 months of life, and to identify factors that predict a lower proportion of days at home.

Material and methods: Retrospective study of 434 deceased patients with NSCLC. The number of days spent in a hospital or nursing home was identified from electronic ... -
Adherence to lifestyle recommendations among Norwegian cancer survivors and the impact of traditional and complementary medicine use: the Tromsø Study 2015–2016
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2023-08-19)Introduction Adherence to healthy lifestyle recommendations has positive effects on cancer outcomes yet adherence is low among cancer survivors. Differences in adherence between women and men, phase of survivorship, and other factors that might increase adherence, like the use of traditional and complementary medicine (T&CM), need to be explored. We aimed to study the adherence to national recommendations ... -

The Knowledge of Implementation Strategies: Impact of the Installed Base
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2023)This study uses three case studies to investigate how the installed base affects Electronic Health Records (EHR) implementation in European hospitals: i) transition from paper-based records to EHRs; ii) replacement of an existing EHR with a similar system; and iii) replacing existing EHR system with a radically different one. Using a meta-analysis approach, the study employs the theoretical framework ...
