The present study shows that all Lehmer means of two variables for integer power k and for k = m 2 , where m is an integer, can be geometrically constructed, that Lehmer means for power k = 0,1 and 2 can be geometrically ... -
On Context, Issues, and Pitfalls of Expert Judgement Process in Risk Assessment of Arctic Offshore Installations and Operations
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2018)Decisions to be made in the Arctic offshore operations rely extensively on risk assessment outputs, which require a great deal of historical data and information. However, at the current stage of operating in the Arctic offshore – compared to normal-climate regions – such data is scarce due to the limited industrial activities to date. Lack of data on the probability of the occurrence of an unwanted ... -
A NEW GENERALIZATION OF BOAS THEOREM FOR SOME LORENTZ SPACES Λq(ω)
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2018)Let Λq( ω ), q > 0, denote the Lorentz space equipped with the (quasi) norm [MATHEMATICAL FORMULA] for a function f on [0,1] and with ω positive and equipped with some additional growth properties. A generalization of Boas theorem in the form of a two-sided inequality is obtained in the case of both general regular system [MATHEMATICAL FORMULA] and generalized Lorentz Λq( ω ) spaces -
Multi-dimensional Hardy type inequalities in Hölder spaces
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2018)Most Hardy type inequalities concern boundedness of the Hardy type operators in Lebesgue spaces. In this paper we prove some new multi-dimensional Hardy type inequalities in Hölder spaces. -
Two-sided estimates of the Lebesgue constants with respect to Vilenkin systems and applications
(Journal article; Peer reviewed; Tidsskriftartikkel, 2017-03-13)In this paper, we derive two-sided estimates of the Lebesgue constants for bounded Vilenkin systems, we also present some applications of importance, e.g., we obtain a characterization for the boundedness of a subsequence of partial sums with respect to Vilenkin–Fourier series of H 1 martingales in terms of n's variation. The conditions given in this paper are in a sense necessary and sufficient. -
Some inequalities for Cesàro means of double Vilenkin-Fourier series
(Journal article; Peer reviewed; Tidsskriftartikkel, 2018-12-19)In this paper, we state and prove some new inequalities related to the rate of Lp approximation by Cesàro means of the quadratic partial sums of double Vilenkin–Fourier series of functions from Lp. -

Collaboration with High-Payload Industrial Robots: Simulation for Safety
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2018-12-15)
When operators and industrial robots are sharing the same task, there are multiple factors, which effect if a system is safe for the human operator or not. In general this is solved by introducing Collaborative Robot for cooperation, but what happens when we would extend our already existing production facilities with newer comfort features?

In this paper we propose to include industrial ... -
Fluid solid interaction simulation of CFRP shell structure
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2017)This work attempts to model the dynamic behavior of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) shell structure subjected to water shock wave to improve the results presented in the study by Khawaja et al., 2014. In the previous study, the real physical problem was simplified by decoupling the fluid and the structural phenomena, applying the recorded experimental fluid pressure load to the CFRP shell ... -
Semi-Implicit Method for Pressure-Linked Equations (SIMPLE) – solution in MATLAB®
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2018)This work presents a method for the solution of fundamental governing equations of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) using the Semi-Implicit Method for Pressure-Linked Equations (SIMPLE) in MATLAB®. The fundamental governing equations of fluid mechanics are based on three laws of conservation, referred to as the law of conservation of mass, the law of conservation of momentum and the law of ... -
Exploring Tensions in a Mathematical Course for Engineers utilizing a Flipped Classroom Approach
(Book; Chapter; Bok; Bokkapittel; Peer reviewed, 2017-02)Flipped Classroom approaches to teaching are becoming increasingly popular in higher education, but there is a lack of empirical research. We present here a study performed during an engineering course for 20 students at a Norwegian university, on student appropriation towards Flipped Classroom through interviews, questionnaire, video/quiz usage statistics and classroom filming. We approach this ... -
Approaches to learning of linear algebra among engineering students
(Peer reviewed; Bok; Book; Bokkapittel; Chapter, 2017-02)The present paper investigates engineering students` own descriptions of what they mean by learning of linear algebra and how they know that they have learned something. I seek to extract keywords from engineering students` descriptions of learning of this discipline by drawing on grounded theory techniques and classifying the answers in conceptual and procedural approaches. By this, both detailed ... -
Review of Low-Temperature Crack (LTC) Developments in Asphalt Pavements
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2018)The article presents a review of low-temperature crack (LTC) developments in asphalt pavements commonly observed in regions affected by cold weather. The cold weather contributes significantly towards the development of these low-temperature cracks (LTCs). Since the 1960s, many studies have been published, proposing various cracking mechanisms. The simplistic reason for the development of cracks in ... -
