(Master thesis; Mastergradsoppgave, 2017-06-14)As Northern Norway is considered as a low population density area with small and dispersed settlement structures, dispersed economic foundation with simplification, and focus on primary production. Manufacturing firms in Northern Norway are predominantly Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise (SMEs). With the development of globalization and the industry 4.0 trends, manufacturing industry focus more on ... -
Refinements of some limit hardy-Type Inequalities via Superquadracity
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2017-11-03)Refinements of some limit Hardy-type inequalities are derived and discussed using the concept of superquadracity. We also proved that all three constants appearing in the refined inequalities obtained are sharp. The natural turning point of our refined Hardy inequality is p=2 and for this case we have even equality. -
Ship-icing prediction methods applied in operational weather forecasting
(Journal article; Peer reviewed; Tidsskriftartikkel, 2017-10-11)Sea-spray wetting of ships operating in cold environments imposes a great safety risk, due to icing. For this reason, marine-icing warnings have been a part of operational weather forecasting for the last five decades, yet verification of such warnings has only been done sparingly. This article evaluates different ship-icing methods applied in operational weather forecasting. The methods are tested ... -
Potential type operators in PDEs and their applications
(Journal article; Peer reviewed; Tidsskriftartikkel, 2017-01)We prove the boundedness of Potential operator in weighted generalized Morrey space in terms of Matuszewska-Orlicz indices of weights and apply this result to the Hemholtz equation in ℝ3 with a free term in such a space. We also give a short overview of some typical situations when Potential type operators arise when solving PDEs. -
Some new Two-Sided Inequalities concerning the Fourier Transform
(Journal article; Peer reviewed; Tidsskriftartikkel, 2017)The classical Hausdorff-Young and Hardy-Littlewood-Stein inequalities do not hold for p > 2. In this paper we prove that if we restrict to net spaces we can even derive a two-sided estimate for all p > 1. In particular, this result generalizes a recent result by Liflyand E. and Tikhonov S. [7] (MR 2464253). -
Improving the Decision-making of Reverse Logistics Network Design Part II: An Improved Scenario-based Solution Method and Numerical Experimentation
(Peer reviewed; Chapter; Bokkapittel, 2018-02-11)The study of the network design problems related to reverse supply chain and reverse logistics is of great interest for both academicians and practitioners due to its important role for a sustainable society. However, reverse logistics network design is a complex decision-making problem that involves several interactive factors and faces many uncertainties. Thus, in order to improve the reverse ... -
Predicting Bedside Falls using Current Context
(Peer reviewed; Chapter; Bokkapittel, 2018-02-05)Each year about a third of the elderly aged 65 or older experience a fall. Many of these falls could be avoided if fall risk assessment and prevention tools where available in the daily living situation. Such tools would need to use the current context as input to predict an imminent fall. This paper presents an approach predicting imminent falls using data from a roof-mounted infrared array combined ... -
Scenario-based approaches for handling uncertainty in MPC for power system frequency control
(Journal article; Peer reviewed; Tidsskriftartikkel, 2017)A stochastic nonlinear model predictive controller (SNMPC) is designed for automatic generator control of a proxy of the Nordic power system, and it is compared with a multi-stage nonlinear model predictive controller (MNMPC). Both controllers are scenario based, but originate in two different disturbance modeling paradigms; stochastic and deterministic. A simulation study indicates that the two ... -
Study Of Wind Chill Effect and Thermal Insulation Using Infrared Imaging
(Conference object; Konferansebidrag, 2017)Tanveer Ahmad presented his findings on using Infrared Imaging to identify the wind chill-effect and insulation of winter clothing. He showed qualitatively that IR can detect the effects of wind chill and conducted experiments to obtain data with a view to establishing metrics which can be used to assess the effectiveness of survival gear. An unusual item that cropped up during the presentation was ... -
A Hybrid Biomass Hydrothermal Gasification- Solid Oxide Fuel Cell System Combined with Improved CHP Plant for Sustainable Power Generation
(Journal article; Peer reviewed; Tidsskriftartikkel, 2017)The most popular technique, so far, for biomass waste to energy conversion has been incineration, but this technique has raised a lot of objection among nature activists due to the release of particulate matter and pollutants like nitrogen oxides (NOx) into the atmosphere. However, advanced non-incineration conversion methods like pyrolysis, thermal gasification, and plasma-arc gasification are ... -
Numerical Simulation of Non-normal Wind Load on Porous Fences

Underactuated Waypoint Tracking of a Fixed-Wing UAV
(Journal article; Peer reviewed; Tidsskriftartikkel, 2013)In this paper a new method of performing waypoint tracking is shown for underactuated fixed-wing UAVs. The position error can be mapped onto the desired axis using a desired rotation matrix, while the velocity error can be mapped to the desired axis using a desired angular velocity. With all errors defined along one axis, the tracking problem is easily solved using only one thruster. A velocity ... -
Underactuated Control of Quadrotors with Collision Avoidance
(Journal article; Peer reviewed; Tidsskriftartikkel, 2013)In this paper a saturated controller is derived that solves the translational control problem for underactuated quadrotors. The controller is applied to multiple quadrotors during a formation reconfiguration where the quadrotors move from an initial position to a desired position. The null-space-based behavioral control method is a popular method for avoiding collisions between mobile agents, and ...
