Kommunikasjon og dens påvirkning på trivsel for nyutdannede anestesisykepleiere

Abstract

Sammendrag

Bakgrunn: Avvik på operasjonsstuen skrevet av anestesisykepleiere, skyldes ofte svikt i kommunikasjon. Kommunikasjon er en viktig ikke-teknisk ferdighet og er en av de grunnleggende faktorene ved samarbeid i teamet på operasjonsstuen. Hensikten med studien var å finne ut hvordan nyutdannede anestesisykepleiere opplever kommunikasjon i teamet på operasjonsstuen, samt hvordan trivselen påvirkes av kommunikasjonen.

Problemstilling: Hvordan opplever nyutdannede anestesisykepleiere kommunikasjon i teamet på operasjonsstuen? – Hvordan påvirker kommunikasjonen trivselen?

Metode: Studien er en kvalitativ intervjustudie, med fem semistrukturerte individuelle intervju. I arbeidet med analysen brukes tematisk analyse inspirert av Johannessen et al. og Braun & Clarke.

Funnene: Funnene fra studien er delt inn i tre temaer. Hovedtemaene er nytt fokus, jobbtilfredshet og samarbeidskultur. Nytt fokus handler om ny identitet, opplevelser av kompetanse og følelser knyttet til kommunikasjon i teamet på operasjonsstuen. Jobbtilfredshet forteller om hvordan den nyutdannede anestesisykepleieren har det på jobb og hvordan omgivelsene oppleves på operasjonsstuen. Samarbeidskultur preges av bekjentskap og teamfølelsen i sammenheng med hvordan det kommuniseres i teamet på operasjonsstuen. Den omhandler også konflikthåndtering og ledelsens tilrettelegging i den nyutdannede anestesisykepleiers innføring på operasjonsavdelingen.

Konklusjon: Nyutdannede anestesisykepleiere trives bra og føler seg godt ivaretatt på operasjonsavdelingen. Kjennskap til teamet fremmer kommunikasjon og samarbeidet på operasjonsstuen. Erfaring som sykepleier er nyttig for den videre utviklingen som anestesisykepleier. Ikke-tekniske ferdigheter er noe hver og en må jobbe med, og som kan trenes på gjennom simulering. Closed Loop kommunikasjon (CLC) og Trygg kirurgi –sjekkliste er nyttige verktøy i kommunikasjon på operasjonsstuen.

Background: Incidents in the operating room reported by nurse anesthetists are often related to failure of communication. Communication is an important non-technical skill and is one of the fundamental factors in teamwork in the operating room. The purpose of this study was to understand how newly graduated nurse anesthetists experience communication within the operating room team, as well as how communication affects their job satisfaction.

Research Question: How do newly graduated nurse anesthetists experience communication in the operating room team? – How does communication affect their job satisfaction?

Method: The study is a qualitative interview study, conducting five semi-structured individual interviews. Thematic analysis inspired by Johannessen et al. and Braun & Clarke was used for the analysis.

Findings: The findings from the study are categorized into three main themes. The primary themes are new focus, job satisfaction, and collaboration culture. New focus contains new identity, perceptions of competence, and feelings related to communication within the operating room team. Job satisfaction describes how the newly graduated nurse anesthetist experiences their work environment and surroundings in the operating room. Collaboration culture is characterized by familiarity and team spirit in relation to how communication occurs within the operating room team. It also encompasses conflict management and leadership's facilitation of the newly graduated nurse anesthetist’s induction into the environment in the operating room.

Conclusions: Newly graduated nurse anesthetists are generally satisfied and feel well taken care of in the operating room. Familiarity with the team promotes communication and collaboration in the operating room, and previous nursing experience is beneficial for further development as a nurse anesthetist. Non-technical skills are individual responsibilities that can be trained through simulation. Closed Loop Communication (CLC) and the Safe Surgery Checklist are useful tools for communication in the operating room.
