• User requirements meet large-scale EHR suites: Norwegian preparations for Epic

Ellingsen, Gunnar; Hertzum, Morten (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020)
Electronic health records (EHRs) are becoming the norm in healthcare. Typically, these EHRs are large-scale suite systems. The up-front presence of ready-for-use EHR suites changes the role of user requirements and the conditions for deciding which requirements to include in the final contract. In this paper, we investigate how user requirements are negotiated in the ongoing preparations for the ...
• The effect of atmospheric pressure on oxygen saturation and dyspnea: the Tromsø study

Dohmen, Lisa M. E.; Spigt, Mark; Melbye, Hasse (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-03-03)
A drop in atmospheric pressure, as observed at high altitudes, leads to decreased oxygen saturation. The effect of regular changes in barometric pressure at sea level has never been studied in a general population. A cohort of adults aged 40 years were examined with pulse oximetry at two separate visits, and the local barometric pressure was available from the local weather station. The study aimed ...
• Fremtider

Risør, Torsten; Waltorp, Karen; Juul Jensen, Uffe (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-12-23)
• Stress and perceived health among primary care visitors in two corners of Europe: Scandinavia and Greece

Koppner, Jenny; Chatziarzenis, Marios; Faresjö, Tomas; Theodorsson, Elvar; Thorsell, Annika; Nilsson, Staffan; Olsen, Ole; Faresjö, Åshild Olsen (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-12-04)
Background - The global financial crisis emerging in 2008 struck Greece especially hard, whereas Scandinavian countries were less affected. This has created a unique opportunity to study the long-term effect of community stress on populations. Increasing frequencies of mental health issues and poorer perceived health among the Greek population have been reported. The physiological marker of long-term ...

High blood cholesterol is typically considered a feature of wealthy western countries1,2. However, dietary and behavioural determinants of blood cholesterol are changing rapidly throughout the world3 and countries are using lipid-lowering medications at varying rates. These changes can have distinct effects on the levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol and non-HDL cholesterol, which ...
• Causes and Consequences of Gender Roles

Olsson, Maria (Doctoral thesis; Doktorgradsavhandling, 2021-05-03)
This dissertation addresses the pervasive issue of women’s underrepresentation in agentic work and the equally important (but underexamined) issue of men’s underrepresentation in communal unpaid work. First, I review research and identify what conditions need to be met in order for counterstereotypical role models to break down some of the barriers to women’s entry into agentic work (Chapter 2). One ...

Background - The Chronic Kidney Disease Epidemiology Collaboration (CKD-EPI) creatinine equation is routinely used to assess renal function but exhibits varying accuracy depending on patient characteristics and clinical presentation. The overall aim of the present study was to assess if and to what extent glomerular filtration rate (GFR) estimation based on creatinine can be improved.

Methods ...
• Combined effects of five prothrombotic genotypes and cancer on the risk of a first venous thromboembolic event

Background - The role of combined prothrombotic genotypes in cancer‐related venous thromboembolism (VTE) is scarcely studied. We aimed to investigate the impact of a 5‐single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) score on the risk of VTE in patients with and without cancer using a population‐based case‐cohort.

Methods - Cases with a first VTE (n = 1493) and a subcohort (n = 13 072) were derived ...

To better understand the role of individual and lifestyle factors in human disease, an exposome‐wide association study was performed to investigate within a single‐study anthropometry measures and lifestyle factors previously associated with B‐cell lymphoma (BCL). Within the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and nutrition study, 2402 incident BCL cases were diagnosed from 475 426 ...

Nystad, Kristine; Ingstad, Benedicte; Spein, Anna Rita (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020)
Increasingly, education occupies the lives of Indigenous adolescents worldwide. This qualitative study is part of the project “Circumpolar Indigenous Pathways to Adulthood” (CIPA), where the overall aim was to identify young people’s stressors in five circumpolar sites, and the resilience processes that safeguard transition into adulthood (Allen et al. 2014). The present study explores the everyday ...

• Feeling out of place: Internalized age stereotypes are associated with older employees’ sense of belonging and social motivation.

Rahn, Georg; Martiny, Sarah E.; Nikitin, Jana (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-03-05)
Older employees are not only confronted with subtle negative stereotypes about cognitive decline, but they also tend to internalize these negative stereotypes (i.e., they agree with the idea that intellectual performance declines in old age and they feel affected by this decline). Previous research has shown that internalizing negative age stereotypes has detrimental effects on work-related outcomes. ...
• Girls’ perceptions of their mothers at work and home: Warm does not mean weak

Parks-Stamm, Elizabeth J.; Henson, Emma; Martiny, Sarah E. (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-12-11)
Upper elementary school girls were surveyed about their mothers’ and fathers’ warmth, competence, and agency at home and how they imagine their parents at work. Mothers’ warmth at home was positively correlated with perceived competence and agency both at home and at work. Differences between daughters’ perceptions of their mothers and fathers at work are discussed.
• Human tool cognition relies on teleology

Hernik, Mikołaj (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2020-08-10)
Osiurak and Reynaud's account of human tool cognition misses key element: human capacity for functional representations and teleological inferences. I argue that the teleofunctional approach accounts better for some features of human tool cognition and points to a viable candidate for the cognitive “difference-maker” behind human technological success.
