    • Management’s Discretionary Assessments of Goodwill Impairments—Evidence from STOXX Europe 600

Kjærland, Frode; Forbord, Kristian; Oust, Are; Stephani, Håkon (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel, 2023-06-20)
The main issues of accounting reporting regarding goodwill are whether a firm’s management reliably conveys their private information about future earnings, and whether they disclose value-relevant and useful information to accounting users. In the current International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) regulations, the goodwill impairment test is based on management’s discretionary assessments. ...

    • Mapping class group orbit closures for non-orientable surfaces

Erlandsson, Viveka; Gendulphe, Matthieu; Pasquinelli, Irene; Souto, Juan (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2023-05-12)
Let S be a connected non-orientable surface with negative Euler characteristic and of finite type. We describe the possible closures in ML and PML of the mapping class group orbits of measured laminations, projective measured laminations and points in Teichmüller space. In particular we obtain a characterization of the closure in ML of the set of weighted two-sided curves.
    • Reflection groups and cones of sums of squares

Riener, Cordian; Debus, Sebastian (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2023-03-15)
We consider cones of real forms which are sums of squares and invariant under a (finite) reflection group. Using the representation theory of these groups we are able to use the symmetry inherent in these cones to give more efficient descriptions. We focus especially on the <i>A</i>n, <i>B</i>n and <i>D</i>n case where we use so-called higher Specht polynomials to ...
    • Intestinal injury in cardiac arrest is associated with multiple organ dysfunction: A prospective cohort study

Farbu, Bjørn Hoftun; Langeland, Halvor; Ueland, Thor; Michelsen, Annika Elisabet; Krüger, Andreas Jørstad; Klepstad, Pål; Nordseth, Trond (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2023-02-25)
Background - The impact of intestinal injury in cardiac arrest is not established. The first aim of this study was to assess associations between clinical characteristics in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) and a biomarker for intestinal injury, Intestinal Fatty Acid Binding Protein (IFABP). The second aim was to assess associations between IFABP and multiple organ dysfunction and 30-day ...
    • Exploring the (lack of) facilitative effect of emoji for word processing

Kaye, Linda K.; Rocabado, José Francisco; Rodriguez-Cuadrado, Sara; Jones, Bethany R.; Malone, Stephanie A.; Wall, Helen J.; Duñabeitia, Jon Andoni (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2022-11-12)
We explore whether emoji were associatively linked to emotion concepts represented in emotion-laden words, in line with the Associative-Propositional Evaluation model. Specifically, we tested these principles by exploring whether emotionally-congruent emoji could enhance word processing (Study 1 & 2) and recall (Study 3). In Study 1, participants completed a lexical decision task where word valence ...

High-throughput screening (HTS) methods for characterization of microbial production of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) are currently under investigated, despite the advent of such systems in related fields. In this study, phenotypic microarray by Biolog PM1 screening of Halomonas sp. R5-57 and Pseudomonas sp. MR4-99 identified 49 and 54 carbon substrates to be metabolized by these bacteria, respectively. ...

    • Exploring the Temporal Variation of the Solar Quadrupole Moment J2

Eren, Saliha; Rozelot, Jean-Pierre (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2023-01-17)
Recently, Rozelot & Eren pointed out that the first solar gravitational moment (J2) might exhibit a temporal variation. The suggested explanation is through the temporal variation of the solar rotation with latitude. This issue is deeper developed due to an accurate knowledge of the long-term variations in solar differential rotation regarding solar activity. Here we analyze solar cycles ...
    • Tracking changes in the fjord environment over a winter season using ice bulk salinity and δ18O

O'Sadnick, Megan; Petrich, Chris; Skardhamar, Jofrid (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2023-02-11)
Ice that forms in the fjords of northern Norway often undergoes temperature fluctuations, rising above and below freezing, throughout winter and experiences variable conditions at the ice-ocean interface due to changes in freshwater runoff from surrounding land. Conditions at the interface can be difficult to track throughout the season without consistent measurement, resultantly limiting ...
    • Belief in COVID-19 Conspiracy Theories, Level of Trust in Government Information, and Willingness to Take COVID-19 Vaccines Among Health Care Workers in Nigeria: Survey Study

Oyeyemi, Sunday Oluwafemi; Fagbemi, Stephen; Busari, Ismaila Iyanda; Wynn, Rolf (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2023-05-02)
Background: The World Health Organization recently declared vaccine hesitancy or refusal as a threat to global health. COVID-19 vaccines have been proven efficacious and are central to combatting the pandemic. However, many—including skilled health care workers (HCWs)—have been hesitant in taking the vaccines. Conspiracy theories spread on social media may play a central role in fueling vaccine ...
    • Improved procedures for production and purification of 135La from enriched [135Ba]BaCO3 on a 16.5 MeV cyclotron

Pedersen, Kristina Søborg; Deville, Claire; Søndergaard, Ursula; Jensen, Mikael; Jensen, Andreas I. (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2022-12-08)
Lanthanum-135 (135La) is a favorable Auger electron emitter with a high Auger electron yield and low gamma emission, making it promising for Auger electron radiotherapy. However, successful application requires reliable and scalable 135La production. Up to now, metallic natural barium (natBa) is a commonly used target material, but this material is sensitive to ...
    • Glucagon-like peptide 1 aggregates into low-molecular-weight oligomers off-pathway to fibrillation

Přáda Brichtová, Eva; Monika, Krupová; Bouř, Petr; Lindo, Viv; Gomes dos Santos, Ana; Jackson, Sophie E. (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2023-06-20)
The physical stability of peptide-based drugs is of great interest to the pharmaceutical industry. Glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) is a 31-amino acid peptide hormone, the analogs of which are frequently used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. We investigated the physical stability of GLP-1 and its C-terminal amide derivative, GLP-1-Am, both of which aggregate into amyloid fibrils. While off-pathway ...

    • Some new (Hp – Lp) type inequalities for weighted maximal operators of partial sums of Walsh–Fourier series

Baramidze, Davit; Persson, Lars-Erik; Tephnadze, George (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel, 2023-05-16)
In this paper we introduce some new weighted maximal operators of the partial sums of the Walsh–Fourier series. We prove that for some “optimal” weights these new operators indeed are bounded from the martingale Hardy space <i>Hp(G)</i> to the Lebesgue space <i>Lp(G)</i>, for 0&#60;p&#60;1. Moreover, we also prove sharpness of this result. As a consequence we obtain some new ...
