Pragmatic randomized controlled trial comparing a complex telemedicine-based intervention with usual care in patients with chronic conditions
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2024-01-31)This study evaluates a complex telemedicine-based intervention targeting patients with chronic health problems. Computer tablets and home telemonitoring devices are used by patients to report point-of-care measurements, e.g., blood pressure, blood glucose or oxygen saturation, and to answer health-related questions at a follow-up center. We designed a pragmatic randomized controlled trial to compare ... -
Sykepleiernes innsats ... -

Strategies to decrease inequalities in cancer therapeutics, care and prevention: Proceedings on a conference organized by the Pontifical Academy of Sciences and the European Academy of Cancer Sciences, Vatican City, February 23–24, 2023
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2023-12-22)Analyses of inequalities related to prevention and cancer therapeutics/care show disparities between countries with different economic standing, and within countries with high Gross Domestic Product. The development of basic technological and biological research provides clinical and prevention opportunities that make their implementation into healthcare systems more complex, mainly due to the growth ... -
Feasibility of a new intervention addressing group-based balance and high-intensity training, physical activity, and employment in individuals with multiple sclerosis: a pilot randomized controlled trial
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2024-01-08)Background and purpose: Impaired sensorimotor function, reduced physical activity and unemployment are common challenges in persons with multiple sclerosis (pwMS), even when disability is low. (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2023-07-03)Background - Breast cancer (BC) patients with a germline CHEK2 c.1100delC variant have an increased risk of contralateral BC (CBC) and worse BC-specific survival (BCSS) compared to non-carriers.

Aim - To assessed the associations of CHEK2 c.1100delC, radiotherapy, and systemic treatment with CBC risk and BCSS.

Methods - Analyses were based on 82,701 women diagnosed with a first ... -
Exploring Online Health Information Seeking Behaviour (OHISB) among young adults: A scoping review protocol
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2024-01-30)
Introduction In recent years, information technology and social media have experienced unprecedented growth, particularly in the Nordic countries. However, there is a noticeable lack of comprehensive understanding regarding the latest research findings on online health information seeking behaviour (OHISB) among young adults (18 to >30). There is a need to conduct an updated review to ... -
Safety and efficacy of tenecteplase in patients with wake-up stroke assessed by non-contrast CT (TWIST): a multicentre, open-label, randomised controlled trial.
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2022-12-19)Background - Current evidence supports the use of intravenous thrombolysis with alteplase in patients with wake-up stroke selected with MRI or perfusion imaging and is recommended in clinical guidelines. However, access to advanced imaging techniques is often scarce. We aimed to determine whether thrombolytic treatment with intravenous tenecteplase given within 4·5 h of awakening improves functional ... -
Data driven or data informed? How general practitioners use data to evaluate their own and colleagues’ clinical work in clusters
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2023-12-29)In contemporary policy discourses, data are presented as key assets for improving health-care quality: policymakers want health care to become ‘data driven’. In this article, we focus on a particular example of this ambition, namely a new Danish national quality development program for general practitioners (GPs) where doctors are placed in so-called ‘clusters’. In these clusters, GPs are obliged ... -

Increased expression of individual genes in whole blood is associated with late-stage lung cancer at and close to diagnosis
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2023-11-25)Lung cancer (LC) mortality rates are still increasing globally. As survival is linked to stage, there is a need to identify markers for earlier LC diagnosis and individualized treatment. The whole blood transcriptome of LC patients represents a source of potential LC biomarkers. We compared expression of > 60,000 genes in whole blood specimens taken from LC cases at diagnosis (n = 128) and controls ... -

Vitamin D – a scoping review for Nordic nutrition recommendations 2023
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2023-11-13)Vitamin D is an essential nutrient. Its role in calcium and phosphorous metabolism, and in the development and maintenance of a healthy skeleton is well documented. In addition, there is some evidence for vitamin D decreasing total mortality and cancer mortality modestly, but not cancer incidence. Vitamin D is unique, as both diet and sun induced production in skin are sources to this vitamin. ... -
Different Outcomes According to Needling Point Location Used in Sham Acupuncture for Cancer-Related Pain: A Systematic Review and Network Meta-Analysis
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2023-12-17)Numerous acupuncture studies have been conducted on cancer-related pain; however, its efficacy compared to sham acupuncture remains controversial. We confirmed whether the outcome of acupuncture differs according to the needling points of sham acupuncture for cancer-related pain. We searched 10 databases on 23 May 2023 to screen acupuncture trials using sham acupuncture or waiting list as controls ... -
Educational patterns of health behaviors and body mass index: A longitudinal multiple correspondence analysis of a middle-aged general population, 2007-2016
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2023-12-01)Social differences in body mass index and health behaviors are a major public health challenge. The uneven distribution of unhealthy body mass index and of unhealthy behaviors such as smoking, physical inactivity, and harmful alcohol consumption has been shown to mediate social inequalities in chronic diseases. While differential exposures to these health variables have been investigated, the ... -

(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2023-07-19)Aims - To use the parametric g-formula to estimate the long-term risk of atrial fibrillation (AF) by sex and education under hypothetical interventions on six modifiable risk factors.

Methods and results - We estimated the risk reduction under hypothetical risk reduction strategies for smoking, physical activity, alcohol intake, body mass index, systolic, and diastolic blood pressure in 14 ... -
Prevention of obstetric anal sphincter injuries with perineal support and lateral episiotomy: A historical cohort study
(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel, 2023-12-05)
Introduction - There are many risk factors for obstetric anal sphincter injury (OASIS) and the interaction between these risk factors is complex and understudied. The many observational studies that have shown a reduction of OASIS rates after implementation of perineal support have short follow-up time. We aimed to study the effect of integration of active perineal support and lateral ... -
