dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this study is to provide a deeper understanding of a grammatical field in which there has been limited research. This study concentrates on the inflection of “voseo” in the subjunctive, examining the use of “voseo” in Argentina and investigating whether various social factors such as gender, age and geographic area influence its use. In conducting this study, a quantitative research method was used, in which forty Argentinians responded to a digital questionnaire. To ensure a representative selection of participants, respondents from different social backgrounds were included. The results of the study indicate that there is wide variation in the use of the verb form and that social factors do influence how it is used. The results show that the “tuteo” form is generally preferred, but this does not necessarily mean that the “voseo” form is disappearing. To gain a better understanding of this grammatical phenomenon in Argentina, it would be appropriate to conduct further research in this area. This could illustrate how other sociolinguistic factors, such as social class, influence the use of the verb form. | en_US |
